This is both a test post and a post made at the behest of Prof. Crandall to verify that us students can indeed create brand new posts. I read this article linked from fark.com. And if you don't read fark, this is a very positive advertisement for that site. It is all real headlines about any and all subjects, but with absolutely hilarious one liners so that it gets you to click the links and read.

And here is the article in question. It is about a current study into the "extinction periods" that have been part of the very existence of the earth for the past 4.5 billion years. It is hypothesized that the current use and abuse of the earth and its resources are not sustainable.

Kind of scary. In fact, really scary. We only have one of these things. Until we can get to mars and robot wives are cheap and effective; things must change.

The Earth can sustain itself even with humans consuming its resources. The Earth is 8,000 miles to its core. So that means it is 16,000 its diameter. The deepest mine in the earth where miners constantly go in to conduct their work is 3,900 Meters and it is in South Africa. The deepest hole dug is in Russia and is 40 miles deep. We have not even begun to scratch the surface. Beneath the miles and miles of earth are resources that we can use which include uranium, platinum,precious metals and even more gold. I for one do not believe in the threat of Earthly resources deminishing away so soon. Our land is filled with trees that can even be replanted.
I do believe that fossil fuel can cause lung disase and increase allergies .And who is to say that hydrogen fuel is even more harmless to the average individual than fossil fuel and can cause a dengerous explotion if involved in a firey accident.
Robot wives would be funny. I however see more potential in cloneing them rather than having a metal dull companion. At least with cloaning you can have a real person and with alterations to the mental thinking patterns can even possibly be made to fall in love with the one who summons or orders its creation. :)
