Just FYI - Dept of Justice against Freedom of Info

This is not required reading, but it's very relevant to the discussions we'll have on the week of the 15th. It gives a current, practical example of what people like Chomsky, Herman, and Cohen are talking about.

The United States Department of Justice has recommended that the FCC go against Net neutrality. What that means, in a few words, is that they want to charge writers, teachers, schools, and individuals to distribute information over the Internet.

Net nutraility is something I strongly think that people should have. The internet should have the right to produce and post whatever information is out in the world. The idea of a corproation provding a form of filtration system should not be aloud. People already need another source of information besides the already biased and filterd media. Taking this away is a way of taking out a right. However if their reason is simply beacuse"there's just too much info" then in the first place people ususally search for a specfic topic in mind and not for something general. So I think this shoould be banned. But on a positive aspect it will create jobs and income for people to work for these companies, but nonetheless I think the net should be free.
